Lebanese Hostages in Syrian Jails

On May 1, 2000, Syrian journalist Nizar Nayyouf received the World Press Freedom Prize, and wrote, from the prison of
Mazze: "One of the most serious sequels of the criminal war in Lebanon is the tragedy of the disappearance of more than 18,000 Lebanese citizens."
Some of these are still alive, today, in Syria. Evidence exists!
Ever since spring of 2005, families of prisoners have been doing a sit-in in front of the United Nations' ESCWA headquarters.
They hope to catch the diplomats' attention.
However the diplomats come and go, and in all weather - cold, rain, or torrid heat - they pretend not to notice them.
